Maps of Light

Light moves so quickly, our eyes can not see it, just its effect. Caught by a long exposure, though, the map of light becomes visible.

This is very cool Diane. I love the light maps and it's really fascinating to think about this. We see and don't see our world.

Diane, this is gorgeous! I've been wanting to try something like this for a while too. How great to see our themes inspiring other artists. There couldn't be a better compliment!

Emily, the work you and your family are putting out there is TOTALLY inspiring to me. I love the idea of your blog and the themes you're playing with, so I decided to play along, too. I'm already planning out some of what I want to do when I guest blog in August - we'll have just gotten home from a cross-US road trip, so it made me think about all the rivers we'll be crossing from one coast to the other and back again, and what I can do with that creatively (I can't wait to actually DO it now). Thinking about that project also made me reconceptualize the trip to include making art along the way - what we can create, document or take with us, and what we can leave behind. And, in some ways, thinking about that has made me be conscious of making art whenever and wherever I can. I know, strange for a writer to have to consciously remind herself to make art, but still...I keep a separation between "real" life and "creative" life. Okay, this has actually turned into a blog post now. Sorry. I'm a novelist. Sometimes it shows.
